Hospitality is a comodity that money does not buy! My kids, Charmaine 11 & Scottie 8, had an absolute ball. They will never forget "the cottage with the awesome fireplace." the mini-golf, tyre swing & the fun they had playing with Denis kid Andre. My husband & I enjoyed the serenity and cosy atmosphere. The milk, the flowers, pre-heated fire to welcome us; these are the touches that set the scene. Fond memories we will treasure, it brought us closer together (literally), We loved it. Loved the view and privacy! Like going back in time- but without the hardships.. Many thanks from Gary, Vicky, Charmaine & Scotte Howie (Victoria Pt. Redlands- QLD)

"Great quality for the price, very clean and exceptionally well equipped. Great friendly service from the owner who even took the time to light the fire for us. Great range of board games and cards - considering it rained the whole time we were there they were a very welcome gesture. Free eggs were given to us fresh from the chooks which was also a lovely gesture. Highly recommended as a place to stay and by far one of the friendliest owners of accomodation we have had the pleasure of staying with. Dennis even made arrangements to have a bag that we left behind transported to a convenint place for us to collect. Rare service indeed. "

"No improvements required - perfect as is."

" Fantastic Cabin ! Beat the puzzle! love the Mini Golf course ! A very charming place and fantastic views ! The Chomkowic. 27/07/2007

Accommodation

Best Australian Budget accommodation.
Look no further for a fantastic price and a clean, well-presented
property. Denis gets consistently good feedback with many guests saying
they’d find this property hard to beat. Take a Break review December 2007.

Quaint, self contained and fully equipped, the cottage sleeps up to four people. There is a double bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom and a cosy log fire.

Overlooking the historic Long Bay shoreline the cottage is only metres from the Ocean in a peaceful bushland setting. Nearby are state forests and Fortescue Bay National Park, the highest sea cliffs in Australia and the three Capes, Raoul, Pillar and Huay. The cottage is within easy access to pristine beaches, penguin colony and walking tracks and a few minutes from Port Arthur Historic Site, restaurants and shop, the Taranna Devil Park and Federation Chocolate Factory.

When staying at the cottage you can enjoy a feed of fresh Oysters or Mussels just pick them on the rock by the jetty and go fishing for a fresh large Cod just 2 mins. from our property. You can have a glimpse of our nusery and walk through the beautiful garden of Denis,Raquel and Andre . Since arriving in Oakwood, Denis has replaced the blackberries by native Tasmanian bush food plants that had taken over the slopes on the way to the water. No Tv.

Plant Nursery & Putt Putt Golf

The entrance to the garden is free and plants are labelled with their bush food usage. The nursery is open 7 days a week. The nursery stock natives and exotics.

The design of the mini-golf is against common sense all the way; tunnels, holes were you expect them the least, balls going through bath, hand basin, canoe, a canon, wenches, frying pans, bridge, craypots, and more a real experience. A table and wood barbecue are available.

Adult are charged same price as kids. (2 hours to complete)
